Little Mr. N -- Kansas Newborn Photographer

 This little man was only six days old at the time....the perfect age for newborn shots.

He was all kinds of bendy and sleepy.  And sooooo sweet.  :)

Everyone in his house is so excited to have him, especially this one...

I hope she waits a few years before she puts me out of a job!  :)

Back to School!

It's that time of year again!  Mom's favorite time of year...back to school.

Cooper was "a little nervous", but very excited about starting Kindergarten.  Since we're in the same building now, I wasn't nearly as bad as I was when Avery went to Kindergarten.  But I'm not going to say I wasn't a little nervous myself!

Here's the girl getting some encouragement from Dug.  (Sorry for the grainy pictures.  She gets on the bus something like 4:30 in the morning.  geesh.)

She wants to ride the bus as much as she can because bus kids get an early morning extra recess.  Fine by me!

She's very excited about 3rd grade, as are we.  She'll do great!

Then, after the boy slept a while longer, he got ready to go too.  Kindergartners don't get the early morning bus recess, so I'm guessing he'll be riding with me most mornings.  That way, we can both get a few more minutes of sleep!  (yay!)

Please note....this father "fixed" his hair.  augh....

Dug's providing some more encouragement.  He even gave me some encouragement before I left, but it looked more like dog slobber on my black shirt.  Thanks, Dug.

You have no idea how much convincing it took to get him in shorts.  He is not a shorts guy, but the thought of playing basketball at recess & PE was enough to get them on him.  (Day 2 & 3: soft pants.)

Praying this one does well with his year too!

My year at a new school has started off great as well.  I have some amazing people to work with & they have been so helpful.  I would definitely be lost without them!

Four Wheelin' -- Kansas Senior Photographer

 Tried out a new spot this week and loved it.  It was perfect for an all-out country boy!

(He did a nice job of unloading and loading....I was impressed!)

Puddles of Fun! -- Kansas Children's Photographer

 After a stormy night, the next morning was perfect for pictures for this little man.  His mom even brought his rain boots.  What a smart mama! :)

He is so full of personality....and such a cutie!

I posted this picture over on the WischDesigns Facebook page a little earlier because I love it!  I'm not sure if Miss M realized what she was doing, but she's signing "I love you".  She sure knows how to melt my heart!  :) 

I loved hanging out with this almost-four-year old.  She has great stories to tell!

Like her kitty, Hocus Pocus, had to go to the vet to get some shots (or something like that).  :)

My weekend seems to have gotten away from me.  How does that happen?

It started off with this adorable little one.  But she had different plans than the rest of us.  No sleeping for her!  :)

This is really where she was the happiest.  Love that!

And her handsome big brother, who knows a thing or two about powdered sugar doughnuts!

Here's Looking at You, Kid -- Kansas Family Photographer

I'm happy to report that Kid is the second horse I've ever met that actually liked me.  After the coughing, wheezing, and general upheavals (from him, not me), he didn't even sneer at me once.

Maybe it's because we're so similar in age.  :)

Kid and everyone in these families did such a good job!

Even the implements were smiling after their soft water bath!

In the Kitchen -- Senior Themed Session

I've been wanting to do a themed session for some time, but I wasn't sure what to do it on.  When a Senior showed some interest, and I knew she had a special talent, I put out the call for what I was looking for.

And guess what?

It was practically in my back yard.  Well, not mine, but it was very close by.  Love how those things happen...Yay God! :)

In a lot of the themed sessions I've seen done, more emphasis is placed on the theme than the person.  But I wanted to try and include the focus on the person more than the "stuff".

This Senior was so patient with me, and even came with some goods ready to go!

it's wednesday

...the last one before I head back to school next week.  boooo.

Before the Wordless Wednesday posts return, I'm going to inundate you with a bunch of random words.  Enjoy.  (Beware.  There's a lot of made-up words in there.)

• I wish I lived close to a beach.  Not a fishy smelling beach, either.  white sand, not too humid, nice breeze beach.  But I want to be able to drive there in about an hour.  can anybody hook me up?  oh...and close to a pizza hut. thanks.

• anybody else think this summer was WAY too hot?  It stinks.  It's like it wasn't even summer because every time I went outside I sizzled off one more layer of skin.  Now I'll be going back to school looking whiter than I do in January because I lost four layers of epidermis.  geesh.

• I'm not big on jewerly (you're welcome, craig), but this is pretty cool....it satisfies both the nerdy science geek and low blinginess in me.

• update....those of you looking for a beach for me....check this out.  Might have to haul in some white sand, but that shouldn't be a problem.  Just need a cool $350 thousand. thanks, again.

going through some old photos on the computer & found this piece of awesomeness.  George, call me.  I've still got a batch of cookies from 1983 that have been waiting in a box to send. 

• hallelujah!  these were made for me. (thanks to the Northern Sister for introducing me to the talented Archie McPhee some years ago.  I haven't been the same since potatoe guys.  Partially because the brother attacked me with raw tubers, but i'm not dwelling on the bad...you know, scars are cool.)

• i had to go to the eye dr. the other day.  it was weird because the eye dr. is in the old hardware shop.  i found myself looking for paint samples near the Calvin Klein glasses. odd.

• www.blurb.com  Someday, i'm gonna do this.  Not that anyone would read the book since you've already read the blog.  :)  Maybe my great grandchild can perceive my quirkiness.

Let this be a lesson....

[This post is for my children, who are enjoying a few days away from their folks.  Or something like that.]

Dear Children,

I just wanted to show you what it looks like to get along with your brother/sister.  Just look at what Dug & 'Possum are doing.  They're getting along and liking it!  Do you think that's something the two of you could do when you get back home??

Since they were being such good little pets, I invited them in the house and guess what??  Dug has cleaned up your room, Avery!  He even managed to pick up all the little pieces of stuff of your floor.  I'm not sure what happened to all your lipstick, but your room looks great!  And 'Possum has stacked up every single book off your floor Cooper!  He gave that room a cat bath and it's sparkling!!  He seems to enjoy sleeping in your gravity wagon the best.

On the other hand, I've had to vacuum every hour just to keep myself from sneezing to death. 

Please hurry home & rescue me from these overly friendly house guests!

Polka Dots -- Kansas Kids Photographer

During our shoot, Sweet Miss A's Mom realized she buys a lot of polka dots.  To which I said "Yay!"  Love those! :)

And speaking of Miss A....she's gotten super fast!  Those sandals were made for moving! 

Loved getting the whole family in.  (There's another good runner in the family!)

Much to his mother's chagrin!  ;)

I had a hard time keeping up with one sport at a time, so I commend those high schoolers who take on two during one season.  Whew!  That's exhausting just thinking about it!

But come wrestling season, he'll be focusing on one thing.  :)
